In her role, she facilitates and co-ordinates clinical trials and research studies run within multiple specialities, Cardiology, Dermatology and Allergy. She oversees all aspects of a clinical trial from site selection and set-up, patient recruitment, to study close out. She works closely with a team of Research Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists and with the Principal Investigator on site, to review the study protocols, contracts, budgets and ethics submissions.
She liaises with the Cardiology, Dermatology and Allergy multidisciplinary teams, the relevant clinical research organisation and the study sponsor, to ensure all trials are conducted in compliance with ICH/GCP regulations, the study protocol and site SOPs.
Since completing a B.A. in Nursing studies at York University, she has gained over 8 years of experience in clinical trials. She has worked in various sites across the UK, specialising in Oncology clinical trials.
Her last post was at Edinburgh University where with NHS Consultants and Scientists, she co-ordinated/facilitated tissue and blood collection using Genome technology, utilising the information to elucidate the genetic basis of both common and rare human disorders and to relate genotype and epigenotype to phenotype.
She moved to Ireland in March 2019 to take up a new role as Senior Research Co-Ordinator within the Children’s Clinical Research Unit on the campus of Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin, focussing on paediatric clinical trials in Dermatology, Allergy and Cardiology.
