Carol Hilliard

Carol is an Assistant Director of Nursing in Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin (CHI at Crumlin). She is a Registered Children’s Nurse and a Registered General Nurse with over twenty years’ experience. Her clinical background is in the care of children with burn injuries, and she has received a number of awards in this area. Carol is a member of the CHI at Crumlin Ethics Committee, and sits on a number of national healthcare committees and groups. Within CHI at Crumlin, and also the Children’s Hospital Group, she contributes to the planning and development of nursing research and education.

Carol obtained her MSc and BSc from the RCSI, and is currently undertaking a Doctorate in Governance in the Institute of Public Administration.

Her research interests include utilisation of research in practice, governance of care delivery to enhance the family-professional relationship, and enabling nursing and multi-disciplinary research capacity in clinical practice. She has published a number of papers in these areas. She is currently working on a number of research projects with academic partners, including a multi-disciplinary international 3½ year programme, Models of Child Health Appraised (MOCHA), funded by the EU Commission Horizon 2020 programme, with Trinity College Dublin.
