Research is essential to advance medical and scientific knowledge; it is the basis for all new therapies, and for the understanding of all disease processes. The National Children’s Research Centre promotes research on all areas of interest to paediatric medicine, so that the diagnosis, treatment, and care of sick children will be the best possible. We promote and foster partnerships among clinicians, scientists and allied health professionals to maximise the impact of research on the health and wellbeing of children.
Our Principal Investigators develop and lead research initiatives designed to explore the molecular basis of disease in laboratories, and to translate these into enhanced treatments in the clinic. Our clinical research in the hospital aims at conducting clinical trials to provide an evidence base for therapeutics and interventions in children. Together, these approaches will lead to an improvement in treatments and care of sick children.
