The aim of the The Seed Funding Grant scheme is to help in the development of new research areas, and to foster them to a point where a more substantial grant application can be made. These start-up grants are awarded at the discretion of the National National Children’s Research Centre Directorate, are for a duration of 1 year, and have a maximum value of €30,000. In any given year, the maximum number of such grants awarded is seven. This funding can be used to as salary, for equipment or consumables.
Frequently, small obstacles can block the initiation of a research project. The Seed Funding Grant Scheme is designed to provide an initial grant to allow preliminary work on a given research project to be carried out. To encourage applicants, the process is simple, and a timely response is assured.
Applications for a Seed Funding Grant can me made by any person or group with a research idea into the cause, treatment, care and prevention of children’s diseases and ailments, with an affiliation to a university, research centre, or hospital.
Please download and complete the application form for the National National Children’s Research Centre Seed Finding Grants, and submit it electronically to info@nationalchildrensresearchcentre.ie . There is no deadline for these applications as they are awarded on a rolling basis.
