The National Children’s Research Centre (NCRC) is the primary paediatric research institute in Ireland, and has both a state of the art research laboratory and the Children’s Clinical Research Unit at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. The NCRC funds research into childhood disease and has a national and international reputation for the high quality of the research it conducts and funds. The NCRC is funded by the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation.

Applications are sought for position of post-doctoral fellow (level 1 or 2), commencing in early 2017 in the Childhood Obesity Immunology Research Group in the National Children’s Research Centre, Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin.

The successful candidate will join a programme of research investigating the impact of childhood obesity on the immune system and in particular immunometabolism. The project will investigate our highly valuable paediatric cohort with the aim of understanding how obesity drives diseases and cancer with the ultimate aim of the development of novel targets for therapeutic intervention. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic as evidenced through productivity in terms of publications and be able to work successfully both independently and as part of a team.
