Clinical Data Coordinator – Entry Level

The National Children’s Research Centre (NCRC) is the primary paediatric research institute in Ireland, and has both a state of the art research laboratory and the Children’s Clinical Research Unit at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. The NCRC is funded by the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation.

The Children’s Clinical Research Unit at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin supports clinical teams in the conduct of academic and commercial clinical research studies.

The unit is currently recruiting for a Clinical Data Coordinator primarily to support data entry on the DOCHAS study, along with supporting other data related activities. The post is an entry level position, with training provided.

The candidate will work closely with the CCRU Data Management group and Gastroenterology Research Group at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin led by Dr. Seamus Hussey.

The DOCHAS study is the first prospective study of newly diagnosed paediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in Ireland and aims to better understand the risk factors and outcomes of Irish children and adolescents suffering with IBD.

Title:                     Clinical Data Coordinator

Location:              Children’s Clinical Research Unit, National Children’s Research Centre, Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin

Hours:                  35 hours per week

Salary:                  €24,492.00 pro rata per annum

Contract:             6 month fixed term contract

Key Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Data entry to the DOCHAS and other clinical databases
  • Conduct basic data review
  • Generate and resolve data queries
  • Update and maintain relevant tracking sheets
  • Perform other duties as required in order to ensure that study timelines are met
  • Complete all assigned training
  • Adhere to CCRU and any relevant hospital or institution policies, SOPs or guidelines at all times

All duties will be carried out in accordance with ICH-GCP guidelines and all applicable laws and regulations for the conduct of clinical research.



Third level qualification or alternatively experience in the clinical field or related scientific research

  • Quick and accurate data entry skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Knowledge of medical/scientific terminology
  • Well-developed IT skills
  • Reliable and trustworthy individual


  • Previous clinical research, statistics or programming experience
  • Prior experience working with clinical databases
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
